First Day as District eTeacher

The day has just flown by. Started off with technical problems – this new laptop would not log on to the school's server. Luckily the technician was around. He did a whole lot of things I don't understand but he got me onto the web. I learnt the importance of interdependence.

Spent the morning relooking at my role. Feeling disorientated and overwhelmed. A mindmap helped. Basically comes down to five things
1. create an e-event each term
2. administration – planning and reporting to overseers
3. my own learning
4. helping others learn
5. working with the District leaders

Later had a meeting with my Principal. She was very helpful. She offered to ask for an eTeacher link on the Wallara web site. In Term 3, I can speak to the District meeting which all site leaders attend. I can arrange to meet with her e.g. once a fortnight. She also suggested I journal my learning journey in this role as it may be helpful to others.

With regards to creating an e-event this term I am still feeling overwhelmed. I feel like I have been asked to write a PhD thesis without having done any research. Chatting with my Assistant Principal: Learning in the Digital Age calmed me a little as she recommended doing something I was going to do anyway but make it broader. Maybe I could rework a 'slam dunk' lesson. Help! I don't have the skills to do this. But I also know if I don't have a go I will never develop the necessary skills.
